Repetetive, but really good

The melody was unbeatable, and the drums were very cool too, especialy the snares. Effects are pretty cool, and the instruments weren't bad. Needs some more variety of instruments, since all I heard was a bass, the main saw synth, drums, and the synth playing the arpeggios at 1:49 as main instruments. Speaking of those, though, they were freakin' awesome. Arpeggios matching with main melodies are really hard to make, and usually come out badly, but these flowed really well with the song and were performed perfectly. The intro to the song was a little wierd. In my opinion, the main melody started too early. Start it at around 0:07 and maybe it'll sound better, and give it some reverse cymbal going into a loud drum hit (for instance, a loud reverbed kick and a crash cymbal) when the saw synth comes in. The part at 1:05 was really fantastic, very good job on that, and it helped the song flow much more. The fade ending didn't fit too well, though, I think. It felt a little off with this song. Still, everything else was fine, and that melody is out of this world. Strange name though... The melody does remind me of pirates for some strange reason, but the effects and synths don't fit too well for a piratey background. An organ, flute and accordian usually do well :). Well, wahatever, awesome song, keep up the great work, and sorry for the long review XD.

Whoa, this is really 0-bombed :[].

Oh yeah baby! Wow this song was one of my best hits. I made it around 4 months ago and yet it feels like a lifetime. I remember the only mastering I new how to do was chucking in some overall reverb effects and a bit of delay and filtering. I knew squat about that. And most of these sounds are presets. In fact, they are all presets, except for the drums. I cant even remember how I got that snare how it was. Wow. Now whenever I look back on this song I think, I could make this sounds so much better, but I will never come up with a melody like that again for a loooong time. I've been trying to make a techno song like this one for a while but cant, until I uncover an awesome melody like this one. Yeah I know hey, this song just seems to associate with pirates lol. Well thanks for the review, yeah 0 bombing sucks, allot of my songs are like that :D.
sorry for my long response, without paragraphs

Repetitive, but cool :)

Excellent job on the drums. They were a little repetitive in the first part, but the they varied a little more, which was cool. The bass was pretty repetitive, though. Try and add a few more instruments, like some ambientish one and one playing a fast melody. The ending's perfect for a loop, but the beginning was perfect for a song, which is pretty strange. If you want it as a song, you should end it with one last long note, but if you want it as a loop you remove the first 5 seconds of the song. Anyway, for the song in general, a little repetitive, but the drums were really cool, the bass was pretty catchy and the effects were cool. Keep up the good work :).

THANKs that really helps. Second "song" in the making right now. Honestly though it was three nights work just after learning the program. But yeah, ill keep what you said in mind.

So awesome!

Extremely catchy and fast-paced. The drums were out of this world, varied, and fit perfectly with the song. The main melody was really catchy, and although repetitive, loads of different melodies and the variety of drums keep me enjoying it to the fullest. I lked the part at 1:34, really good ambientish effect, and then the solo was just fantastic. It was built up very well, and was catchy too :). Very good choice of instruments, and it loops very well too. You definetely deserved that top 5, keep up the good work!

Thanks a lot man, I really appreciate.

Too cool!

Very good song. I liked the sweep at the beginning, and all the synths were really well done. I especially liked that synth that sounds a little like an electric guitar which first came in at 0:13, and the main synth was really cool too. Some louder or stronger percussion might give the collapse feeling in it, but the song itself already fits with the name almost perfectly anyway. The ending was quite good too. I guess I can't find any flaws in this. Here comes another 5/5 :).

... you know, that's actually a really, really good idea. I think I may re-create this song and actually try to make it match the name a bit more.

Oh, and thanks for the review :P

You must be sick of all my reviews by now... :(

I heard this song way over fifty times in a row whilst doing my programming assignment, and I still didn't get tired of it. I honestly don't know how you make this awesomeness. I loved that piano at the beginning, and the piano at at 0:52 was just unbeatable. The drum beat was really good, and so were all of the synths. This fits perfectly with the name, and is catchy till the end. I noticed loads of effects in the song too, and they were all amazing. I especially enjoyed the part at 1:47. The ending was pretty good too. In other words, the song was amazing, and way better than the original. It sounds so slow after hearing this. Good job XD.

And no your reviews are the only one's I've gotten in about 2 weeks.

Really good song!

I enjoyed this piece quite a lot. The intro was really good, and the percussion was varied a lot and fit very well throughout the song, and the piano had some awesome notes to it. The other instruments were quite wierd, though. For example that guitar(?) that comes in at 0:26 was a little hard to follow and strange. The tempo change was very good though, but I expected it to get a little faster and end the way it started, with those catchy piano notes. When the choir came in at 1:48, it seemed to come out of nowhere since as far as I could hear, there weren't any other choirs in any other parts of the song and it felt out of place. The ending was pretty cool though, and in general the song is very catchy, plus it's your first song with Reason, so I'm really impressed. Keep up the good work!

AdventureBiscuit responds:

Thank you kindly :D

The hard to follow guitar at 0:26 is due to bad mixing of the drums, i think. They're just a bit too loud there, and they kinda drown out the guitar. I may fix that at some point.

The choir does come out of nowhere, but I felt that it fitted due to the slow end where everything kinda rings out. Maybe next time I could ease in the choir.

Thanks for a good, in-depth review :)

This is so awesome

Crash Bandicoot was and probably is one of my favourite games on the PS2, and this song made me want to go and play it again, and I played it so much that I kept getting hallucinations of Wumpa Fruit on the walls :P. Anyway, onto the song.
Very cool song, you and F-777 make a good team. The ending was very good, and the instruments chosen couldn't have been any better. I loved it when the guitar came it at 0:54, it was very catchy. This song was covered in effects, and although usually they end up bugging me, these effects fit in very well. The variety in this song was awesome, and so were the drums. The only thing which kind of bugged me a little was the ending. The piano seemed to come out of nowhere since I didn't really hear any other piano parts in the song. You should end it with a reverse cymbal right after 2:15 and a guitar along with a snare or something. You know, just to end it with a bang :P. Anyway, in all I really loved the song. Very catchy, very varied, very awesome. Keep up the great work!

Foxpaw responds:

Thanks! As for the ending...blame F-777, lol. Seriously, I didn't want to end it like that, either(but I consented, obviously). I think that he was bored of it.

Not bad

I barely heard anything at the start of the song. That bass needs to be a little louder in my opinion. The drums were quite well done, just a little hard to follow. From what I'm hearing, the bass isn't that bad. The drums are overpowering the bass quite a lot, though, so you can't really hear that bass much. Try and make it better, since it's a great start. Good job on it in all.

Thanks a lot

Wow, long song =\

OK, since this song is one of the longest I've ever reviewed, I'll write as I'm hearing...
Alright, I'm hearing a good intro. Expecting a buildup any time soon...
Yeah, ok, it's getting better. I like the piano, it started the song very well. The snare or clap, or whatever it was, was well varied and well done.
I'm at 0:51. Catchy tune and good bass. Expected it to be faster, and with some high piano notes, but fits the name anyway. Kicks are coming in. Now the percussion's getting better. Very good buildup.
I'm at 1:42. It's starting to get a little repetitive...
Now I'm at 2:34. The tune changed a little. I've noticed the reverse cymbals you're using. Good job on them. Anyway, I'm hearing a solo. Notes are almost exactly the same as the previous ones though... A bass is coming in, I like it. A very good buildup is starting. The tune is loudest at 3:25. The tune is getting quite repetitive. Still a good tune, just repetitive.
I'm at around 4:40, still repeating :\.
OK, it ended at 5:07. Very good ending.
To summarize it, I liked the intro a lot, and the buildups were very professionally done. Percussion was done really well too. It's just really repetitive, and I can only hear to main melodies in the song: The intro, the melody at 0:51 and the solo which wasn't that different from the main tune. Transitions were very well done and so was the ending, so the only problem in my opinion is the repetition, but if I had to judge the individual melodes, this would get a 10/10.
Overall, good job on it, it's a cool song. Wished it didn't repeat much, but in general a good song. Terribly sorry for the long review...

5/5, since this got 0-bombed :\.

Zeviron responds:

Wow, that's the longest review that I've had aha.
I agree it was quite repetetive, but I've minorly changed that since reading your review, and also changed up soe of the padding synths and strings.

And also for saying that my build ups sound profensionally done, It's really a huge compliment for anything of mine to be called professional seeing as though I've only bee producing for around 8 months and only realy gotten a full grasp on them program...so thank you for that :D

And thank you aswell for helping out with the zero-bombing :D
It's a really big help when anybody does that.

Well thanks alot for your review, I enjoyed reading it aha, and for your support :)

Against your better judgement?

You went against your better judgement? Thank goodness...
This song is one of my favourite ambient-ish songs I've ever heard. I loved the sound effect at the beginning, and the way the wind sound effect fit with the song. The very soft percussion was perfect for this song, and all the instruments were awesome. It was a little high pitched, but the sound effects gave it that 'Lost in the Storm' feel. The ending was very good too, and I liked the part at 1:51 where the strings came in. That part was amazing. Another win!

As evidenced by its 3.45 score, this song was unlikely to be appreciated by the NG community. I submitted it to several other websites who were much more able to enjoy it.
